A popular tranquil holiday spot for Bangkok residents escaping the hectic capital, Rayong Province owes much of its prosperity to the waters of the Gulf of Thailand. The region produces a great deal of seafood, shrimp paste, and fish sauce, which all feature prominently on the local menus. The greater part of tourism in Rayong Province concentrates along the quiet, unspoiled beaches running up and down the coast.
