Spending time with some of nature's grandest creatures at ElephantsWorld, a center that is firmly focused on animal welfare, sustainability, and ecology. Established in 2008, this non-profit organization acts as a sanctuary for sick, old, disabled, abused, and rescued elephants, who enjoy a decent quality of life here. Feed them, wash them, and help with their care: the elephants here are treated with respect, having been taken out of poor conditions elsewhere. Staff will inform you as to the behavior of elephants in the wild, the dangers facing them, and what can be done to protect them. • I am a bit unsure about what to write here. I have read other reviews and have to say I agree with them and was surprised to see chained elephants and some looking so thin. We did see disinterested...

  • What an amazing experience it was. Spent 2 days and one night in the sanctuary and it was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. Edhae was our guide and he spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable. Staff are Karen people, not Thais. Our room for the night was spacious, and clean. Our meals were simple but plentiful and delicious. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of people visiting the place, our first day, we were 12, and our second day we were only 3. Elephants are well fed and well treated. Had the chance to play with them, feed them, bathe them. Requires a lot of money to maintain this place since each elephant eats around 300kg of food every day (they have 9). Staff are 20 people, so you can imagine. Obviously they need tourism to keep the elephants alive. These elephants are rescued and almost impossible to make it on their own in the wild. Highly recommended.
  • Today was one of the best days of my life. I paid 1800 for a morning half-day, which included feeding, cutting down banana trees, preparing soft meals for the elderly elephant (aged 80!), bathing and playing with these majestic creatures. It was so nice to interact with them, the kind staff, and my fellow participants as well. Hotel pickup and drop-off included. Five stars, hands down!
