Part of Ayutthaya Historical Park, Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan represents a Buddhist temple built in the 12th century and features a large, gold, seated Buddha. This particular Buddha image is very important for Thais and Thai-Chinese, who considered it the guardian of mariners. Zheng He, a Chinese Muslim admiral, famously visited this attraction in the 15th century and offered gifts to the temple. Remember to dress respectfully and wear long pants and sleeves. • A large temple complex. In the main temple there is a huge statue of a golden Buddha. More smaller figures around. The complex can be reached by land or by water taxi from the river. There is a large, spacious car park with food and drink stalls surrounding the mountains. And an additional attraction is the opportunity to see and even feed river fish joining by barges set on the river.
  • What a gorgeous temple just next to the river! You have different types of Buddhism here, though for me the most impressive was the immense golden Buddha in a hall inside the temple. Just in front of this hall, there are lots of boxes where you can donate for good luck.
