The Kunstmuseum Thun in the former Grand Hotel Thunerhof is located at the centre of town, directly on the river Aare. The building was constructed in the 1870s and was the first luxury hotel built in the town. It has housed the museum on the groundfloor of the right wing since 1949.

It does not have a huge size, but it is a small jewel thanks to the place where it is installed, i.e. in the former Grand Hotel of Thun. And what a work! I find that the rooms lend themselves completely to the presentation of works of art and give a certain dimension, with a side less cold and more warm. It was a surprise because it was my first visit and I was as much conquered by the place as by the exhibitions presented which were very qualitative. Combined with the view right in front of the building it is a place not to be missed for a visit to Thun !

Very beautiful place. Can see a beautiful blueish lake/river with an Alps mountain in the background. Noticed that there's a lot of elderly in this city. I guess its a place for the pensioners.
