Simplon Pass, Brig

Located between Lepontine Alps and Pennine Alps, Simplon Pass links Brig in Switzerland with Domodossola in Italy. Now usually open in the winter, this high mountain pass was used as early as the Stone Age. Until the 17th century, it was generally crossed by mercenaries and smugglers.
