Three permanent art collections are housed at Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Alicante (MACA), inside the oldest government building in the city. The highlight of the attraction is the Juana Francés collection, bequeathed to the museum by the artist. This local artist's collection includes graphic work, paintings, and sketches that impress with their use of shape and texture. The Baroque government building where some of the collection is displayed is attached to a modern structure designed by architect Sol Madridejos. Inside this portion is a 20th-century art collection, with pieces from Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Alicante holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Alicante (MACA) and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • First of all, it's free entrance. It has 4 levels you can visit. First floor (ground) has historical contemporary pieces explaining a bit about the evolution of art post-WWII era with abstractionism exampled by some exquisite pieces from the era. Second floor (1st) and third floor (2nd) has some notable contemporary abstractionist art such as Salvador Dali and some amazing geometric pieces as well. The final floor has exhibition tribute to Eusebio Sempere and his art evolution playing with lights and volume. All in all a very interesting gallery.
  • Beautiful place with tasteful mind challenging pieces of modern art. Remember to also check out the changing exhibitions. With free admission, absolutely a no-brainer to visit here!
