Blending modern shopping with history and architecture, GUM remains the country's largest shopping mall. Constructed during the 1890s, the trapezoidal building combines elements of traditional Russian and 19th-century English architecture, including a steel framework and glass roof. A major feat of engineering, the structure gets most of its illumination from giant arched skylights, each one containing more than 20,000 panes of glass. The centrally located mall houses about 200 upscale boutiques, selling internationally known clothing brands, household goods, jewelry, sports equipment, cosmetics, and souvenirs. The building's ground level offers access to cafes, restrooms, and ATMs. Put GUM on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Moscow tour itinerary planner.

Gum is epitome of luxury in Moscow. It is magnificent, opulent and massive. There are top clothing brands, top perfumery and highbrow restaurants and other top places. The interior is magical, extremely beautiful. The crossing bridge and the transparent roof is something one has to see. I will always recommend this place for tourists.
One side of Red Square is taken up nearly in its entirety by GUM (ГУМ), the fabulous shopping mall. GUM was built in 1893 and features a stunning glass roof. The department stores inside are generally outside the price ranges of tourists, yet it’s still worth a visit just to window shop. The fountain and floral decorations inside are quite popular. The exterior of the building is lit up at night
