Learn what life was like for peasants around the Romanian countryside during the last four centuries at Muzeul Karanului Roman. Housed in a red-brick building, the museum exhibits traditional dress, furniture, hand-painted Easter eggs, icons, terracotta pottery, tools, and other items. If you want to find out more about the artifacts, you can take the information panels available in English and carry them with you. In a farmer's kitchen look for a door in one corner, behind which surprises await. The museum also features complete wooden buildings, a gift shop that sells replicas of some exhibits, and a small room in the basement dedicated to the communist era. • The main museum is closed for upgrade and there is a small temporary one that is not worth visiting. Look at their website for details. I tried to say how to find it but trip advisor won't let me.

  • A very important place to visit in Bucharest. You can find antiques and other handcrafted items, the museum and you can serve a good meal meal.
  • The museum itself is closed but in it's court every Saturday and Sunday there is a Romanian hand craft, antiques and traditional food market. Nice place to seat and eat and spend time. Besides the traditional stuff you can find modern variations of traditional clothing, jewelry ans also organic vegetables and other farmer's products. We had wonderful tomatoes that has been grown traditionally by farmers in Bacău, Northern Romania. We could chose between 10 different sorts of tomatoes each kind for other purpos. Sellers are nice and not too pushing.
