One of the longest wooden piers in Europe at 512 m (1,679 ft), Sopot Pier stretches from the middle of Sopot Beach. It serves as both a pleasure pier and mooring for cruise ships and water taxis. Walk to the end, where the vapors from the high level of iodine in the water are said to benefit your health. A stroll up and down the pier gives views of the coastline and a respite from city sightseeing. Although events are held on and around the pier, it is free of shops and restaurants so it rarely gets crowded (except when the nearby bay hosts sailing and windsurfing competitions). I wouldn't say this was your usual pier - I am used to piers that have lots of benches for you to sit on and take in the view of the sea or people watch, with little kiosks, shops, exhibits, cafes...

The pier itself is fine, bigger than most I've seen with a nice marina at the end. The view is nice, I've especially enjoyed the big container ships on the horizon. Luxury boats in the marina are fun to look at too. I don't understand why there is a fee to enter since, in the end, it's just a pier.

It was beautiful. I have never visited such a big and long pier. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the sound of ocean around you. At the tip of the pier, you can see the wild waves of the Baltic ocean crashing down. This is a very nice place for hanging out with friends or family or just alone.
