Create an itinerary including Gamle Stavanger
Get a taste of Norway's past at Gamle Stavanger, the city's historical district and home to one of the largest collections of preserved wooden homes in the region. Dating mainly from the 18th and early 19th centuries, these Stavanger homes characterize the architectural style that once existed nationwide. The cobbled streets wind between whitewashed historical homes, numbering 173 in all. Discover the multitude of craft stores and shops that now give life to the area. Be sure to stop by the local canning museum, which demonstrates the inner workings of a typical factory in the neighborhood at the dawn of the 20th century. • Absolutely beautiful place! All those white houses, colorful flowers. Everything is carefully taken care of. It was such a relaxing walk in the area on sunny Saturday morning. :)
  • Very cute old town that complement the city quite well. Stavanger is not a large city so definitely visit this part if you are ‘in town’! Some nice views as well from some of the houses. All in all a visit worth
