Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke) provides a serene place where you can take part in a service and light a candle. It also hosts public celebrations and royal events. The 17th-century Baroque church was restored to its original interior in 1950, on the ninth centennial of Oslo. See the authentic altarpiece with the painting of the Last Supper, the pulpit, and the christening font carved with acanthus leaves. During the restoration, the floor was covered with marble stones and brickwork, and all furnishings were refurbished. Be sure to look up and view the ceiling paintings, works by a 20th-century Norwegian artist that depict different scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke) is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , world travel planner Edition.

  • Not one of the most interesting churches I've ever seen across Europe. Simple architecture, not very large, not very adorned. Interior is nice but also not out of common.

  • A pleasant church that is not too far from the central station, worth having a look inside whilst you are undertaking a walk of the city.

  • Sometimes if you just want a disconnect from the world and wants to feel the love from the supreme creator, then you don't have to go for a pilgrimage, even the busy and bustling Oslo city center can offer you the peace you are seeking for . just visit the cathedral during your commute via Oslo S/Jernbantorget. A candle 🕯️ will enlighten your inner soul. I wish they extend the opening hours.
  • The cathedral is in the heart of Oslo city. This is where the kings and queens as well as the princesses and prince get marry. Inside the church is also a concert hall for musicians during especial occasion.
