Create an itinerary including Kjerag
Towering above other peaks along the fjord, Kjerag has become a popular destination for hiking, mountain climbing, and base jumping. You can walk up the path following marked trails and traversing several ridges to the plateau or cruise around the fjord and admire the mountain face from a ferry or a sightseeing boat. More adventurous visitors may try climbing the Kjeragbolten, a massive round stone jammed firmly in a mountain crevice. Try to find a spot near the peak where a natural phenomenon triggered by a strong east wind occurs--some locals say you'll hear the sound of a gunshot followed by smoke when the wind blows at a certain intensity. Wear solid hiking shoes and warm clothes, and be sure to take plenty of water and food with you.
