King Bhupatindra is the most famous of all Bhaktapur's Malla kings, and he had great influence on the art and architecture of Newar culture. The Malla king sits with folded arms worshipping the royal goddess Taleju in the temple in front of him. He is dressed in the turban and court dress of the Malla kings, sword and shield by his side, his arms folded across his chest, an umbrella guarding him from the wind and sun. While Bhupatindra's statue was made in imitation of those in Kathmandu and Patan, it is perhaps the most beautiful of the three.
