Originally built in the 18th century as an area for stores and warehouses, Valletta Waterfront serves as a good place to grab a bite to eat, shop, and simply enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of Malta along its historic harbor. After heavy bombing during World War II, the waterfront's reconstruction has led to a mix of old architecture alongside modern improvements. Notice the thick walls that you walk along--meant to protect the city from invaders--as well as the different colored doors of the buildings, which once symbolized what kind of goods were stored within: yellow for wheat, green for produce, blue for fish, and red for wine. Watch the luxury yachts and large cruise ships drift in and out of the harbor. Take a harbor cruise to learn more about the area's history. Put Valletta Waterfront and other Valletta attractions into our Valletta attractions planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

While walking along the Valletta Waterfront you come across a number of buildings with really beautiful architecture. Well worth spending an afternoon there.

Service and food were below average especially for the price you pay.

The Valletta Waterfront offers a range of eateries all with good outdoor seating. There's a great view across the bay too! From the picture, you can see on our visit we opted for the pizza joint, good pricing and something for everyone means we will definitely be coming back. Prices of the pizza (at time of writing) are around €11 to €16 at most, I think. I got the Margherita with the cheese stuffed crust (made to order) and the portion size was that immense I had enough left over to pop in a box for another meal later on. Good place to eat if you have additional dietary requirements, the pizza bases can be changed from the regular dough to gluten free. The staff are fantastic too! Very welcoming and always happy to help- nothing is ever too much for them.
