Create an itinerary including Upper Barrakka Gardens
Once reserved as a retreat for the Knights of the Italian langue, Upper Barrakka Gardens today is one of the country's most beautiful public gardens. The park, created in 1755, sits perched at the highest point of the city walls and offers superb views of the Grand Harbor, the old towns of Senglea and Vittoriosa, and the Saluting Battery below. Relish the gardens' striking vistas and discover a number of significant statues, including a gift from Winston Churchill and an artwork created by one of Malta's best-known sculptors, Antonio Sciortino. Relax on one of the many benches, and grab refreshments from the small on-site cafe. Using our custom trip planner, Valletta attractions like Upper Barrakka Gardens can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Lovely experience. Lots to see. Perfect place to observe military cannon being fired, or just for relaxation. Nice and easy entry and exit. Also, the cafe seating is plentiful and the vibe is good. Range of food available at the cafe could be improved though.
  • Lovely gardens, fountain and cafe with plenty of seating and great views. The Cafe serves great coffee, beers and snacks/cakes etc at very reasonable prices compared to other tourist spots. Great place to sit and wait for the Battery Salute Canon fire at 1200 noon which is a sight to see. The gardens are accessible from the city or up the lift from below.
