Witness one of the country's most famous traditions at Saluting Battery. For centuries, the battery overlooking the Grand Harbor served as the first line of defense against invaders. Salutes were fired to mark important occasions and holidays, and to welcome foreign dignitaries. Additionally, at exactly noon each day, a shot was fired so captains could calibrate their ship chronographs.
