Learn about country's crucial role in World War II at Lascaris War Rooms, where you'll explore the historic complex of rooms and tunnels from which the defense of Malta was conducted. Located 46 m (150 ft) below the Upper Barraca Gardens, this was the site where some of the most famous battles of the Mediterranean were planned. With the end of WWII, the complex became the headquarters of the Royal Navy's Mediterranean Fleet and then a strategic communication center for NATO. Choose between a tour guide or an audio guide, both of which will explain the events that took place here. Learn about the German bombardment of the islands, Malta's critical role in defending North Africa, and why the nation was awarded the George Cross for bravery. Put Lascaris War Rooms on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Valletta trip site.

Really great authentic experience, since it is in the actual bunkers that were used in the war. We loved the way our guide, James explained everything in detail. Also the selection of books that are being sold is nice, especially for a wwii documentaries enthusiast

This was a great experience. I had always wanted to visit Malta due to my interest in WW2 and the role Malta played in it. Our guide was James and he was great, I had previous knowledge on Malta during WW2 and James certainly gave me more. He explained the events surrounding the bombing of Malta and Operation Husky fantastically. He answered all our questions without a problem. Its a must for anyone visiting Malta!
