Explore the walkways around, above, and through the remains of one of the largest and most complex prehistoric sites on the islands at Tarxien Temples. The four megalithic structures, discovered in 1913 by local farmers, were built between 3600 and 2500 BCE. The temples showcase examples of prehistoric art that have survived the millennia, including relics of two bulls and a sow. Watch for informational boards explaining the significance of the ruins and how the temples were used. Be sure to bring a hat and water, as it can get very hot and shade is limited. A really unique ancient site that is worth the visit! You can see the full layout and design of how it would have looked in it's entirely very clearly. Love the effort to preserve it - the overhead shelter is a cool piece of engineering in itself! Took about 45 minutes to walk/explore it and read the explanation guide signage posted throughout. Easy bus ride to access with multiple bus options to access it from Valletta.

Very well preserved and presented prehistoric temples. It's incredible to walk among megalithic temples built up to 5600 years ago. It's also a very short bus ride from Valletta, definitely worth the trip.
