Visit the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland, Trim Castle, which appeared in the acclaimed 1995 film "Braveheart." Hugh de Lacy, Lord of Meath, and his son built the three-storied keep. Construction began on the site of an old wooden fortress in 1176 and continued over a 30-year period. The Lord of Meath used the castle as the center of administration. Since its completion, the castle has also served as a mint for Irish currency and a meeting place for Parliament. Explore the historic keep, which is only accessible on 45-minute guided tours. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Behind the castle is a little hill which give a great overview. Benches and really nice restaurants next to it. Perfect for a evening out or a family trip. Highly recommend going to trim. And the castle the history of the place is crazy.

The castle structure and whole are around it is really impressive and well maintained. Work around the area is free, although I totally recommend doing the Keep tour as price is really affordable and our guide was amazingly friendly, the view on top is also fantastic, being able to see all around surrounding it. Is a really emotional experience being at a place with a so rich history over all this time.
