Visit an 18th-century country estate at Belvedere House Gardens & Park, known for its spectacular Rococo ceilings. Richard Castle, a famous Anglo-German architect (who designed several well-known structures throughout Ireland, including Dublin's Leinster House), built this home in 1740 as a hunting lodge. The building is beloved for its Diocletian windows, 19th-century terraced gardens, and Rococo plasterwork ceilings, which are considered to be some of the best in the country. Tour this historic home and walk through its lush gardens, or visit to attend one of the site's many events, such as music festivals and garden theater performances. • Unbelievable ! You drive all the way here ( We came from Cavan ) and you aren't allowed to actually have a coffee in their coffee shop without paying an entrance fee of €8.00 EACH. And that's before.....  more

  • This was my first time at Belvedere House and Gardens and my only regret - I didn't find it sooner. What an amazing place, beautiful gardens, amazing history working around inside the old house and plenty to see and do. They even have Victorian greenhouse, fantastic cafe and children's park, plenty of picnic spots and amazing views of the lake. This spot is highly recommended for a young family outing. I will definitely be going back.
  • Love this place!! Great for walking, exploring and not too bad for eating. Allow a minimum of two hours to truly enjoy the experience. The history of the estate is tremendous and the jealous Wall is well worth a look.
