St. Canice's Cathedral & Round Tower
Visit the ancient St. Canice's Cathedral & Round Tower, considered the second-longest cathedral in Ireland. Historians believe that this site has has hosted Christian worship since the 6th century, though the current structure dates back to the 13th century. Walk the grounds and admire the cathedral's English Gothic style. Climb to the top of the 9th-century Celtic Christian round tower that stands 30 m (100 ft) tall. Study the architecture and interiors, which have been carefully preserved in the original style. Super cool church! The round tower is a cool experience, climbing up ladders to the top! The church is also cool, lots of crypts. Definitely should visit if in Kilkenny!

Beautiful Cathedral in a stunning old town. This is a beautiful old cathedral. Not the grandest but inside and outside are delightfully pretty and the ancient stonework is in superb condition. It looks really neat with the tower which is interesting in itself and a good climb. The views from the top is great but not brilliant...you can see the city but it is pretty flat. Helpful staff and entry is 4€ to the cathedral and tower...that’s all I paid anyway. My visit: 15th October 2018.

The cathedral was beautiful, but I especially enjoyed climbing the bell tower! We were told it is one of the only two remaining bell towers of this height that are able to be climbed. Well worth a short stop while visiting the medieval mile!
