The National Maritime Museum of Ireland (Irish: Músaem Mhuirí Náisiúnta na hÉireann) opened in 1978 in the former Mariners' Church in Moran Park, located between the seafront and the centre of Dún Laoghaire town, southeast of Dublin city. We were met and given a personal guided tour by Paul who brought to life the various stories of maritime disasters and triumphs. There are several fine ship models on show and examples of the bravery.... more

Very much enjoyed our visit. Setting is great - lovely church. The lighthouse on the altar is striking - great idea. Had a guided tour by volunteer guide Michael. Very friendly informative tour. (And none of the silly theatrical condescending stuff you get with paid guides in larger institutions. Glad we said yes when offered.) Ticket price is very affordable.

A treasure trove of exhibits and information in a lovely setting in a former church. Some amazing models of ships. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Enjoyed our visit.
