Tucked away from large crowds of tourists, Merrion Square provides a beautiful, historical retreat. Take a quiet walk down shady paths past traditional gardens. Grab a coffee, or enjoy a picnic with your family after taking a look at the park's famous Oscar Wilde statue, dedicated to the author who took up residence in the area for some time. W.B. Yeats and Daniel O'Connell also lived among the Georgian red-brick townhouses lining the sides of this square. You can visit their previous homes, along with the Natural History Museum, National Gallery, Leinster House, and several government buildings. Put Merrion Square on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Dublin trip planner.

Nicely maintained park with sculptures and floral beds. Good to walk around and see the lovely Georgian buildings on all sides. The rather bizarre Oscar Wilde statue of him leaning on a boulder...

I've been visiting Merrion Square for years and have seen it transformed from a rather overgrown park to an open, well maintained space. Seats and picnic tables have been added since I last visited in mid 2021. Lovely place to visit. Bright and spacious.

Hidden behind its surrounding canopy of trees, this is a really nicely landscaped and ample sized park! It's a perfect place to get away from the stress of the city for lunch if you're working nearby or just to relax for a while in if you're sightseeing in this area! It also boasts a war memorial pyramid and a suitably lanquid looking statue of of Oscar Wilde, a driud like throne dedicated to Dermot Morgan and on Sundays its railings are adorned by the paintings of local artists!
