To explore diverse animal habitats from the fringes of the Arctic to the African plains, visit Dublin Zoo. Founded in 1831, the zoo covers nearly 30 hectares (70 acres) and houses about 100 different species of animals. Boasting a renowned lion-breeding program, which dates back to the middle of the 19th century, the zoo plays an important role in the global efforts to conserve the world's endangered and threatened species. You can visit hundreds of animals spread across eight different habitats housing birds, bats, monkeys, crocodiles, tigers, turtles, and giraffes. Be sure to look in on the zoo's family farm, designed to teach visitors about modern Irish farming. With our international travel planner, Dublin attractions like Dublin Zoo can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Brilliant well kept Zoo. Staff are all generally very friendly. Food could be cheaper though and there should be more choices. Animal enclosures are generally all kept really clean. Animals all see so laid back. The Zoo lights are a fantastic evening out with your children even the adults enjoy it , so much effort and work put into it. I've been to a couple a light shows and this is by far the best in Ireland.

The festival of Lights in Dublin Zoo was Outstanding. A++++ It was a beautiful night, perfect walking and enjoying the Zoo lights at night. Excellent value and would go again. All Staff very friendly and helpful. It was a fabulous end to a not so nice almost 2 years of restrictions and tragedy.
