Create an itinerary including Bru na Boinne
Older than the Egyptian pyramids, Bru na Boinne serves as the largest Neolithic archeological complex in Europe, designated as a World Heritage Site. Situated around a wide bend of the Boyne River, this 5,000-year-old site includes mounds, chamber tombs, standing stones, and henges, encompassing about 800 hectares (2,000 acres). The site's star attractions are three passage graves built with an impressive knowledge of science and astronomy and containing significant collections of megalithic art. You can access these tombs by guided tour only, available at the visitor center in the nearby town of Donore. The complex receives only 650 people each day, so arrive at the center as early as possible to ensure your place on the tour. • This place is beyond special. I can’t wrap my head around how ancient it is, and particularly how did the people plan and build this magnificent tomb without any modern machines and tools. I don’t...

  • Loved Loved Loved this tour! I usually will not wait two hour to tour a site but this is worth it. Both tour guides and bus drivers I interacted with were excellent. The visitor center is currently close for construction so the entrance fee was free. IN ADDITION: If you liked my review and thought it was helpful, please click the like button. Thank You!!!
  • What an AMAZING sight! These tombs are even older than the pyramids of Egypt and have been preserved with great care. The tour guides are incredibly helpful and informative of the area. I highly recommend visiting here and learning the history of the Neolithic people!
