Preserving the Byzantine heritage of the region, Museum of Byzantine Culture provides insight into the cultural influences on Greece. The galleries are filled with gold-plated religious artifacts representing the Orthodox roots that continue to play an important role in Greek traditions. Almost 3,000 artifacts date from the early Christian period to after the Ottoman Empire. The museum also hosts temporary exhibits in the large galleries, such as the displays showcasing ancient documents or modern photography. • A lot of byzantine treasures that you must see if you are interested in history and culture. There may be a stiff air in some rooms( rooms 1-4), like an allergy. To me it was really nice.
  • Interesting exhibits, nice-sized museum. Not too big or too small. I wasn't comfortable with museum gallery employees (all women) watching my every move. I am 62 years old and well-dressed, not a street person. In one gallery I turned around and stared right back at the woman eyeballing me so she would know how it feels. She turned away with an embarrassed expression.
