Venetsanos Winery, Megalochori

Visited this lively Winery last night on a food and wine tour. Stayed through the sunset which was magnificent. Much more enjoyable that Oia sunset. Had a delicious wine tasting and the staff was kind and enthusiastic. Greatly recommend you visit! Warning: stairs inside are a bit intense.

My harsh review is for ther sunset experience, which I wouldn't recommend. Not that the place itself isn't nice (service, wine, location are good), but the sunset experience is the one thing I regret about my visit to Santorini... I think that the best view is from their terrace below the parking lot. If you get a table there (perhaps by going for their wine tasting option?) then you might have a beautiful experience. However with the sunset experience you will watch the sunset from a terrace that I think is not as much panoramic as the other one. I was so enthusiastic about sunsets in Santorini that I thought it would be a nice experience, but here you only get 1 glass of wine and a small food platter for €50... there are so, so, so many much better places in Santorini where you can watch the sunset for free or by paying less. There is no particular added value for customers in this particular experience. It could have be at least a wine tasting...then it would have made sense... but what you get it's not worth the price.
