Kalogris Organic Winery, Kapsas

Kalogris Winery is one of the most charming wineries I've ever visited, which says a lot as I've been to many all over the world. It is beautifully decorated with heirloom relics from owner Sandy's mother, including a puppet collection and musical instruments. Her father pioneered organic wine grape-growing in the Peloponnese, where most wine-making occurs in Greece. Kalogris wines are unique not only because they are they made from organic grapes, but also because they are unfiltered with spontaneous fermentation. I highly recommend Sandy's own label of off-dry red wine 2016 called "Sunday" in Greek with an illustration of a dog holding a newspaper. This winery also offers cooking classes in an adorable kitchen!

Wonderful visit today on recommendation of a local (Nafplio) friend. Excellent wines and a delightful story behind their organic origins. Will be back another time for a longer tour and wine tasting. Thank to Tatiana for her wonderful reception. A MUST visit if you are in the area.
