Create an itinerary including Ancient Kamiros
Explore the remains of an ancient civilization dating back nearly 3,000 years. Ancient Kamiros was established by the Dorians but was likely inhabited even earlier by the Achaeans. The ancient town flourished as an agricultural society, producing oil, wine, and figs during the sixth century. The town was abandoned gradually as the residents moved to the nearby city of Rhodes. Stroll the streets and residential areas to imagine what life would have been like in the ancient town. Walk up to the top of the hill to see the acropolis and a covered reservoir, which could supply water for up to 400 families. Enjoy a spectacular view of Rhodes and the sea below. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Ancient Kamiros and many more Kalavarda attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Kalavarda day trip app.

  • Magical.. if your into history this will stir you imagination. A city nearly 3000 years old.. you stand in the shoes of ancient Greece.. and the Roman empire. A flavour of what life was like.....
  • One of the few archaeological sites to have an onsite cafe, which is most welcome on a hot day! The site itself is expansive, and while the ruins may not be particularly awe-inspiring, it's amazing to see the way water was collected - such a vital resource!
