Create an itinerary including Archaeological Site of Delos
Hop on a ferry to see Archaeological Site of Delos, the birthplace of twins Apollo and Athena--the god of light and the goddess of wisdom. The entire island is uninhabited and serves as an archaeological site, so explore at your leisure. Climb to the top of the highest hill for a panoramic view of the surrounding sea and nearby islands. Take photographs of the famous stone lions that grace the road leading to the three temples of Apollo, and at the museum view some of the artifacts discovered in what is now a World Heritage Site. Consider hiring a guide in advance to help you understand what you are seeing. Shade is limited, and the cafe on the island is pricey, so bring a hat, sunscreen, water, and snacks. • Really as a site for history and beauty it’s up there with the Parthenon. Came from Naxos and 3 hours was barely enough even with the museum being closed. Worth the walk to the windy top of mountain.....  more

  • This is an awesome place to go if you have any interest in ancient Greek history or just history of the time period. Definitely get a guided tour unless you are willing to do a lot of research beforehand as the informational plaques throughout do not do the things here justice. Shout out to Delos Tours and our tour guide Demetria.
  • Everyone will love visiting this island which is said to be the birthplace of Apollo, the blockbuster of all Greek gods! Delos was fascinating and beautiful, like stepping into a story book. Highly recommend their guided walking tour!
