Set in a mansion belonging to the influential Bekanis family, Benaki Museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts reflecting Greek history and culture. Though primarily concerned with Greece, the museum explores and celebrates the many foreign influences that have enriched the country. Admire prehistoric pottery, Byzantine iconography, 17th century embroidery, and heirlooms of influential Greek figures. Make sure to stop by the on-site restaurant. Located on the top floor, it offers superb views of central Athens. With our online itinerary creator, Athens attractions like Benaki Museum can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • If you’re into religious paintings, textiles, period piece clothing & jewelry you’ll love it. I found it rather dull. It claims to be an old mansion however it’s basically been gutted & completely...

  • Good collection, poor explanations. A lot of object but without context or description. Probably more worthy to visitors with prior knowledge.

  • Nice antiquity objects and icons. The rest is less interesting, but this is personal. That said, the 3rd floor was closed, the rooftop as well, and still, they make you pay €12, which I think is exaggerated. Nice A/C to cool down when it's hot outside !
  • An amazing collection of cultural artifacts from thousand of years BC to the 1800s. It is €12 for the main collection and also have special collections. There are 30 or so rooms of art and artifacts on 3 floors currently. We really enjoyed our visit and spent 2-3 hours visiting here.
