Create an itinerary including Dom St. Blasien
Dom St. Blasien is a Benedictine monastery popular for its stunning architecture and peaceful gardens. While the exterior is impressive, you may be shocked at the interior decor. Much of the inside is white, including the seating, flooring, and stone walls, and sunlight streams in to light up the halls. Before you leave, take time to find the old statues in the garden. • We drove by St. Blasien by chance and then saw this huge cathedral in the middle of the Black Forest. We decided to stop and visit. And wow, what a beautiful cathedral it is! Not the typical gold-covered altars as one would expect but beautiful white marble (?) stones. Definitely one of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever seen!
  • We came one Saturday afternoon but the church, the main attraction of this place, was closed due to concert preparations. It was disappointing for a number of other tourists too. A small spa resort which has little to offer beyond its church with the biggest cupole north of the Alps.
