Frederiksborg Castle, Hillerod

Head to Frederiksborg Castle to explore the lavish rooms and lush gardens of past Danish royalty, now transformed into the area's national history museum. The oldest parts of the castle were built by Frederick II in 1560, but the majority of what remains today was constructed by Christian IV in the early 1600s. Walk the grounds of the largest Renaissance palace in Scandinavia to see fountains, sculptures, hedges, and a variety of flowers and other foliage. The castle is in the middle of Palace Lake and stretches across three small islands.
