Create an itinerary including Frederiks Kirke (Marmorkirken)
Commonly known as the Marble Church, Frederiks Kirke (Marmorkirken) is an Evangelical Lutheran church with the largest religious dome in Scandinavia. Construction began in 1749, but due to financial troubles and unfortunate circumstances, the church remained unfinished until 1894. From the outside, the Baroque architecture is reminiscent of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Make a quick stop inside to view the decorative lining of the dome, which spans 31 m (101 ft). Entry is free, but on certain days of the week you are allowed to pay a fee to climb to a viewpoint where you can enjoy bird's-eye views of the whole city. Check the website for further information, and for dates and times of services if you would like to worship. • Nice monument. It has to be visited for its wonderful painted cupola and its superb old organ. I can just guess its acoustic should sound amazingly.
  • Amazing architecture in and out! We were lucky to arrive when there was a choir on. Really enjoyed this part of our trip!
