Rio Celeste
Trek into the rainforest and observe the colorful waters of Rio Celeste. Located at the meeting point of two rivers, and near a dramatic waterfall, the water is colored by the special minerals found in the rocks and riverbed, creating an excellent scene to admire and photograph. Unfortunately, you can no longer swim in the vibrant waters, but the hike through the jungle and the chance to see the natural phenomenon make the experience worthwhile. Be sure to bring sturdy boots for the trail, and don’t forget your camera. Cool place for a hike. Note that you can’t swim under the waterfall, so if you’re looking for a swimming hole this is probably not the best place. Plan for a roundtrip hike of around 2-3 hours if you want to go to the end of the trail. You don’t have to go all the way to the end to see the waterfall. But if you hike to the end, you can see where two rivers meet and the water turns from clear to aqua blue, which is pretty cool. I also saw some neat birds and monkeys in the trees. Bring a raincoat because it can start to sprinkle or rain out of nowhere. Also, good shoes are recommended (don’t come with sandals). There’s an entrance fee and they only take credit card.

The blue river is pretty neat and the waterfall is beautiful! It’s not a difficult hike but it is somewhat rough terrain in some parts of the trail. Lot’s of steps. Definitely take a poncho (it rains hard), waterproof closed toed shoes, and water (a snack would be nice). No need to pay for a tour guide, easy marked trail in the jungle.
