Venture off the beaten path as you step onto the cream-colored sand of Playa Biesanz. The beach is small and secluded, reached by a short trail through tropical rainforest. The trail begins at a small break in a fence between hotels Shana and Parador. Shade trees border the beach, where you can read a book or just admire the view. Go snorkeling in the clear waters, or kayak offshore to go exploring. A nearby submerged rock is known for being a good snorkeling spot. • My family stumbled upon this beach when we left our hotel and decided to turn left instead of right on our last day in Costa Rica. There was ample parking on the street and on the walk to the beach...

  • Quaint, small public beach. A bit of a walk from the main road but easy walk from the nearby Shana by the Sea Hotel. Sand wasn't the best quality, the waves were gently, a bit rocky at some parts...

  • Great hidden spot. Don't share tell anyone about it but it's awesome. Do stop at the local store for drinks and snacks ahead of your visit. If you plan to hang out for the day get an ice chest. Get there early to secure a good parking spot. Keep in mind the tides drop as the morning progresses so dont get stuck on the first beach chair/umbrella. Bring: water shoes, goggles or snorkel gear, a waterproof phone case and a Pura Vida attitude. Overall the experience is awesome.
  • Excellent place to go it can be very lively with people bringing in their speakers for music. Really secluded and there is a beach bar to have food and drinks. Water was excellent. Little rocky, but better to go when its low tide. Would definitely come back to Biesanz!
