A World Heritage Site, Xiaoling Tomb of Ming Dynasty contains the final resting place of the Hongwu Emperor, who founded the Ming dynasty in the 14th century. The massive complex was completed in 1405 after more than 20 years of construction. Explore the spacious mausoleum grounds, situated in the foothills of the Purple Mountain, and walk the "Sacred Way" path, lined with pairs of animal figures carved out of stone. Step into an arched passageway to see the tomb, or visit the nearby "Plum Flower Mountain" that houses a mausoleum of Sun Quan, who ruled Eastern Wu almost 2,000 years ago.     We enjoyed walking through the area on the sacred pathway (lined with stone animals and soldiers) on the way to the tomb. The cost to enter is 70 RMB and you can pay 100 RMB to get a discount ticket.....  more
