Create an itinerary including Nanjing Museum (Nanjing Bowuyuan)
One of the largest museum spaces in China, Nanjing Museum (Nanjing Bowuyuan) boasts over 400,000 artifacts spread over more than 70,000 sq m (753,473 sq ft). This is also the first comprehensive museum in China, telling a story about this great civilization since the Paleolithic era, divided into six pavilions. Observe the ancient bull-shaped oil lamp from the Han period, and see unparallel collections of imperial porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties. You can also visit model villages showing ancient life in various regions. Exquisite paintings, jade sculptures, and lacquerware, among many other items, show Chinese arts and crafts at their best. You can enter for free, but you need to flash some ID and fill in an entry form, and you'll find little in the way of English information. Before you head to Nanjing, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Nanjing trip itinerary app, to make sure you see all that Nanjing has to offer, including Nanjing Museum (Nanjing Bowuyuan).

  • Divided into different sections, the museum shows the full history of the city of Nanjing from the days of the Dinosaurs, to ancient China, feudal China to the Republic of China a hundred years ago...

  • It's free, which means it will be crowded.
  • Very big and interesting. Make sure to take a look at Nanjing in the 20's, which is located in the basement. We also saw a show of Chinese Opera and some other nice expositions. The entrance was free, and foreigners don't need to make the huge line up at the computer : just go at the counter and they will give you a paper that you need to show with your passport at the entrance. If you are Chinese, there are some more computer just before the entrance with much less people.
