Exceptionally well preserved and rich in detail, Mutianyu Great Wall offers visitors an iconic view of China's symbolic World Heritage Site and one of the seven man-made wonders of the world. This segment of the wall was originally built in the 6th century CE during the Northern Qi dynasty and has remained unchanged since 1569. The section boasts many watchtowers and is surrounded by a dense forest, which makes for sweeping scenery. Access the wall by climbing the approximately 4,000 steps, riding the chairlift, or taking the gondola lift. • Was a few years ago now but the skies were crystal clear blue, and believe it or not, the only 2 people we seen were 2 school age girls arrive after us. I grabbed a beer from the guy with a 1 x 2 meter table and cooler at the wall, stepped over the threshold and was not only amazed at the greatest wonder of the world (imo), was thinking how something as simple as a beer here would never be possible in the west which is exactly why they don't have their own wall, too restrictive and close minded "rulers."
  • One of the magnificent man made structure. Can't wait to see the other walls
