See the jewel of Canada's religious heritage at Notre-Dame Basilica, one of the world's most dramatic examples of Gothic Revival architecture. The majestic church boasts hundreds of intricately carved wooden statues in a grand interior that holds up to 4,000 worshippers--all under a blue ceiling speckled with gold stars. Instead of depicting religious scenes, the stained glass windows narrate the history of Montreal and offer a glimpse into the city's development over the centuries. The church regularly hosts musical events, with the main concert taking place at Christmas, when thousands attend the performance of Handel's "Messiah." A gorgeous basilica, and a must-see in Montreal. Whether you are religious or not, the amount of art work in this building is astounding and the layout can impress anyone. You do need tickets to enter, and you do need to purchase them online before you get to the door. It's easy to get them early, and there are different prices for guided tours or for just going in on your own (personal tour in May 2022 was $15 per adult). Plus you can pay a couple of dollars inside to light candles if you like. But just entering into the building brings a sense of awe to the viewer, and a quiet tour through will tell you more about different parts. A quick look at the newer chapel in the back and the more modern art there continues to impress - I am extremely glad we went inside.

What a breathtaking experience AURA was. I had never seen something like that before — not even in the Tokyo digital arts expo. Sublime and perfectly developed. I’m not religious myself but the show has nothing to with the catholic credo. The basilica is gorgeous in its own right, but aura makes it a thousand times incredible. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Montreal
