Roam the stalls of Jean-Talon Market, a farmers market in the Little Italy district of Quebec's largest city. Named after Jean Talon, the first intendant of New France, the market opened in 1933 and has since become a focal point of the neighborhood. Wander the rows of open air-stalls filled with colorful fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, and seafood. Sample local snacks or baked goods, visit gourmet stores for some artisan cheeses and wine, or get a hot cup of coffee to sample as you explore. Make Jean-Talon Market a centerpiece of your Montreal vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Montreal road trip app.

  • In the spirit of visiting Montreal, we did the Montrealer experience. The market offers fresh vegetables, meats, and cafes to stop and smell the flowers. A truly authentic Montreal experiece.

  • Open area fresh markets. Variety of typical fruits and vegetables. There are also meats, seafood and cheese vendors. Products were fresh. Although this may be one of the biggest in North America, I've seen bigger markets in other part of the world, so i didn't find it special. But this is the cleanest among all that I've been to.
  • Wide variety of local fruit and vegetables, flowers and shops. Food stands.
