Discover the traditional culture of Plovdiv and the surrounding region at Ethnographic Museum. The colorful exterior is a typical example of Baroque architecture in Bulgaria. The museum houses more than 40,000 artifacts, including copper utensils, pottery, ancient weapons, shepherds' wood carvings, ritual objects, musical instruments, woolen embroidery, and traditional folk costumes. The museum houses a scholarly archive, library, and photo archive. Learn what life in Plovdiv looked like at the beginning of the 20th century from old black-and-white photographs. The fine-art collection features more than 100 valuable paintings, icons, statuettes, wood carvings, and metal figures. • As per our tour guide this was a house of a famous goldsmith once upon a time. Now it's a nice wooden house with ethnographic items - clothes, tools, furniture...from the past centuries.

  • It is a beautiful building with a very interesting plan of space inside, building itself is a piece of the museum and the museum has a nice presentation of historic Bulgarian clothing, home items...

  • A very complete museum about the people of Bulgaria with a lot of art pieces and objects from the daily life of the locals. The only problem was the lights which made the pictures hard to take. The price of the tickets were very low and they had reductions for families and students. This is a must-see in this city and I greatly recommend visiting this amazing place.
  • One of the most beautiful traditional buildings in Bulgaria. Very interesting and nicely artifacts. It's must to visit it if you're in Plovdiv!!!
