Bascarsija
Situated in one of the oldest areas in the city, Bascarsija represents an oriental bazzar where craftspeople sell their wares. Pick your way through vendor booths filled with colorful porcelain pots, brass coffee grinders, and decorative cloths. Cultures come together here: you can expect to see people in modern European garb alongside those outfitted in traditional Muslim attire. Underfoot, the old cobblestone adds interest. Buy crafts and merchandise fashioned by the hands of local artisans, and see products that unite the East and the West in a blend of colors, tastes, and smells. The ornamental fountain in the center of the square is worth a look, but be advised that thousands of pigeons gather here too. Put Bascarsija at the forefront of your travel plans using our Sarajevo trip itinerary planning app.

This place has a very unique feel and atmosphere to it. The people are extremely helpful and there are many options for you to relax, eat and take pictures. Be wary of pickpockets and you should be good.

Make sure you have your hands and your wallet Always close. Lots of thief’s. Mostly ladies who are begging for money, on the other side you are always under control by a closer man and as long as they see that you are distracted… here you are… you were already late and robbed. You can buy lots of fake trendy bags, mostly the same products in different stores. Prices similar. Very good Bosnian/Turkish coffee and baklava. Burek and Baklava Also for take away. Other shops to be certainly discovered- at the time we’ve been there, bad weather and lots of shops closed. Good experience in the end for the kids, a bit of stress for us adults. If I can compare with the similar market in Istanbul- here is the cheapest and poorer version of it.
