Queen Victoria Building offers an architectural delight: an extravagantly detailed shopping center from Australia's late colonial period amidst the gleaming modernity of downtown Sydney's skyscrapers. From the outside, admire the Romanesque Revival facade that American architect Henry Hobson Richardson employed throughout the city in the last decade of the 19th century. Observe the large copper-sheathed central dome, cupolas on the corners of the roof, and columns all along the exterior walls. Inside, see stained-glass windows, arched skylights by the central dome, colonnades, and balustrades. And the shopping isn't half-bad in here either. This beautiful old building has so much to offer: great food, great coffee and great shops. Easy access to trains and buses.

I love this place. It is always so beautiful. The clock chiming is worth seeing. It is like stepping back in time, I love to wander around and soak up the historical features and atmosphere. Lots of beautiful boutiques to visit but also lots of bargains to be found. There are some excellent cafes and other food options. The only downside of this place is that the bathrooms, though usable, aren't always as clean as I would like, even early in the morning they are often in need of attention. It just detracts from the luxurious feel of the rest of the surrounds. All in all though its a great day out. I would also add that I have updated this review as they have retired the swarovski Christmas tree which used to be a wonderful attraction and replaced it with a very underwhelming tree.
