Second only to Bondi in popularity, Coogee Beach is suitable for swimming, relaxing in the sun, and picnicking. Nearby is a busy shopping and dining area, where you can also find hotel accommodations if you choose to stay longer in this quaint part of the city. Though this part of the coast is famous for its dangerous shore breaks, an ocean pool lies at the southern end of the beach in a sheltered area safe for swimming. Lifeguards are on duty daily and on the Wedding Cake Island, rising out of the water about 400 m (1,300 ft) offshore.     If you are doing the walking trail between Bondi & Coogee Beach, I highly recommend starting here for a couple of reasons; 1. It’s easier to head back into the city as there are more buses back into.....  more
