Carved out of the sandstone cliff face forming a rock bridge, Remarkable Cave is truly remarkable for its opening that takes roughly the shape of the map of Tasmania. A short drive from Port Arthur Historic Site, this intriguing geographical feature is best seen from the viewing platform that lies at the bottom of a steep slippery stairway. Notice the huge boulders near the mouth of the cave that were left when the back of the cave collapsed. The top of the cave serves as a good lookout point. Some serious stairs but it is worth it for this special little hidden gem. We went in after dusk and came out in the dark with a torch which was just fine, just take it slowly!

Lots to see and do for the family members.

Stunning cave and deserving of the name. Great stairs and viewing platform but I was disappointed I couldn't get down and walk through them. Some younger more agile people climbed over the rails but you would need to be very careful of the tides. I would suggest going as the tides are going out but with some water still flowing through for the best viewing from the platform.
