National Vietnam Veterans Museum
Learn about Australia's role in the Vietnam War from former soldiers who served there at National Vietnam Veterans Museum. Veterans founded the museum to help one another grapple with their experiences, and the location now commemorates their service. Walk through exhibits including photographs, stories, and military equipment, and listen as volunteers recount their personal involvement. Visit the resource library to see original documents and copies of official documents, photographs, and newspapers. The Nui Dat Cafe serves coffee, scones, and snacks. Make National Vietnam Veterans Museum a part of your Newhaven vacation plans using our Newhaven trip tool.

This museum is amazing and honours those brave young Aussie soldiers who fought in the Vietnam war. It's full of fantastic exhibits, both full size and professionally built scale models. Housed inside the museum is a Centurion tank, military vehicles, and helicopters, and many other exhibits are outside around the museum. There is even a Canberra bomber being restored that can be seen at the back of the building. The short audio/visual display at the entry is amazing and a must see before touring the museum. There is also many artist's war paintings and historic photos, plus displays of uniforms and medal awards, and a permanent wall plaque display of museum sponsors. It has a really good little cafe and souvenir shop that are both reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

The 18 minute movie with the holograph was worth the $15 entry fee in itself. The welcome home parade at the end of it brought me to tears: so very moving. The actual displays are excellent. Definitely worth a visit...or two!
