Everglades House & Gardens
Visit Everglades House & Gardens, one of Australia’s most notable heritage gardens. Built in the 1930s by Dutch designer Paul Sorensen, the site features elaborate sandstone terraces, sweeping lawns, and European-style landscapes set against a backdrop of native bushland. The former home of Belgian-born industrialist Henri van de Velde, the property includes a Moderne-style house, 5 hectares (13 acres) of manicured gardens, and an outdoor theater, which hosts dramatic performances and an annual Shakespeare festival. Spend some time resting in the gardens, visit the gift shop, and drop by the site’s art gallery. Indulge yourself at the popular tea room, which serves coffee, herbal teas, local apple juice, and freshly baked cakes. PutEverglades House & Gardens into our Leura route planning website and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Boring garden routinely maintained. Not bad for an afternoon stroll, but not worth the $15. There are better attractions for free in this area.

A national treasure. Beautiful gardens, well maintained, with fantastic landscaping and stonework. The house is Art Deco and is almost in original condition. Look out for the iron work with the story of the groundskeeper and the dog. Light meals are provided by volunteers and the house is a relaxing place with spectacular views. I visit these gardens regularly to enjoy its seasonal foliage and flowers. Always a pleasure to visit.

Hard to believe this was once a private estate. Now owned by the National Trust, it's open to all. The main residence has been converted to a cafe but considering the entrance fees, it's not surprising to see that many folks bring along a picnic lunch instead. Plenty of private grottos, hidden lookout spots and terraced lawns for your picnic blanket. Sept Oct Nov best time to see the spring blossoms.
