Each Saturday, Salamanca Market comes to life with dozens of stalls selling the region's best food, crafts, and souvenirs. Situated in front of large sandstone warehouses that have been converted into a maze of craftspeople's shops and restaurants, the market has been a major tourist attraction for decades. It's also a popular weekend meeting place for local families with kids. The warehouses were built in the 19th century to service the whaling industry. Today the market sells a variety of locally made products at inexpensive prices. This sprawling historic district offers opportunities to shop for gifts, drop by popular eateries, and visit the area's art galleries, which exhibit and sell works by local artists. Spent hours wondering the market. Lots of gin to taste from local Tasmanian distilleries. Try the sole gins and the chilli gin. Leather goods. Food. Plants.

Think of it like Queens Victoria Market. It has many things quintessentially Tasmanian. Opens every Saturday by the look of it. If you are in Hobart dock, this place will be worth it just to enjoy everything Tasmanian has to offer. As an example, there was a stall that sells everything Lavender (Lavender soap, lotion, etc). Organic fruit juice was on offer as was local beer.

Absolutely loved wandering around the market! There was a very large variety of stalls to browse offering food, tastings, clothing and other products. Some highlights were the fruit leather, mini pancakes (cinnamon flavoured with ice cream), juices near the entrance and wine/gin/beer tastings. Very lovely weather which made the experience even better! A must-see experience in Tasmania!
