Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum
Visit Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum to learn about the life and work of a prolific Australian artist who left his mark as a sculptor, writer, cartoonist, and scale modeler. The gallery/museum is a stone cottage sitting on 17 hectares (42 acres) originally purchased by Norman Lindsay in 1913. Several smaller buildings are also incorporated, including the two that Lindsay used as his oil painting and etching studios. Lindsay transformed the property over the years, adding classical colonnades, fountains, walking paths, and sculptures. The oil studio offers a rare insight into the artist’s personal creative space, which has been preserved exactly as it was when he died in 1969. Check online to make sure you don’t miss any special events, festivals, and workshops frequently offered here. Great gallery to view, even better to have a knowledgeable male attendant explain life at the time in the studio where the artwork was created. His knowledge and charisma was rewarding to us.
